Community Outreach Programs
At Team Recovery Foundation, we believe in meeting people where they are and offering support beyond traditional treatment. Our community outreach programs are designed to provide practical help, build trust, and create a sense of belonging for individuals and families impacted by addiction.
Backpack Project
The Backpack Project is one of our cornerstone outreach efforts, made possible through the Toledo Community Foundation’s Sisters of St. Francis Grant. This initiative provides individuals entering or currently undergoing substance use treatment with essential personal items—helping them feel supported, respected, and cared for from the start of their recovery journey.
Each backpack is thoughtfully packed with hygiene products (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, shampoo), a towel, a water bottle, and snacks. These items help meet immediate needs and ease some of the stress that often comes with starting treatment.
Through this grant, we’ve also introduced a birth certificate voucher program to help individuals obtain critical identification documents, removing yet another barrier on the path to recovery.
Future Initiatives
Our vision for community outreach continues to grow. In the coming months and years, we plan to launch:
-
Community Food Pantry: A dedicated space to support individuals and families dealing with addiction and recovery, ensuring they have access to nutritious food and basic supplies.
-
Transportation Program: Helping individuals get to and from treatment, support group meetings, and other critical appointments—because access should never stand in the way of recovery.
Why It Matters
We know that recovery is about more than just treatment—it’s about rebuilding lives, restoring dignity, and creating strong community connections. Our outreach programs aim to reduce barriers, provide immediate relief, and show people that they are not alone.
